B. S. Chaffin, better known as “Sig” died at the Hamilton Hospital Sunday evening. He had been ill for a long time and though it has been known for some time he could not live, his death was a shock to the community. Mr. Chaffin was an old timer in the valley and his friends were legion.
He was twice elected sheriff of the county, which office he filled capably. For the past few years he has resided with his daughter, Mrs. Otis Fletcher, who with her sister Helen and brothers, Loyd and Glenn were at his bed side when the end came.
He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Summers of Santa Monica, California, and brothers, Alex Chaffin, C. C. Chaffin, M. L. Chaffin and Frank Chaffin.
The funeral services were held at Corvallis on Tuesday afternoon, Rev. D. B. Price officiating. Interment was made in the Corvallis cemetery.
