A Golden Opportunity!

Living and Loving Golden, Colorado!

This is a story about my Golden opportunity. This is a story about my opportunity to live and work in Golden, Colorado. Yes, we are the home of the Coors Brewery, however, this is MY home as well and I would like to share MY Golden with you.
What began as a search for a small town to settle down as empty-nesters and enjoy the urban life, ended up with living in historic downtown Golden and becoming passionate about the town. Not only am I enjoying the life I made here, I share that joy with each and every person I meet. Whether it's a new merchant in town, a 2 hour vacation visitor, someone who is on a business trip, or even a new neighbor, I let them know that Golden is special.
What makes Golden so special? From the time I read the "Howdy Folks, Welcome to Golden" Arch on Washington Avenue, I knew that Golden was a welcoming town. I also knew that I wanted to be a part of it. Not only did I want to live in historic downtown Golden, I wanted to find an opportunity to work here as well. I am lucky enough to do both!
I KNOW that Golden is a special place, but to hear those words from a visitor, a new merchant, or someone who just moved here, that really confirms what I already know. As I walk down Washington Avenue, it makes me smile to see people stopping to take a photo of our "Howdy Folks" Arch. I enjoy watching families, walking along the Clear Creek Trail, slowing down to admire the many sculptures along the way. Once again I smile as I hear them talking about how wonderful it is to have such a nice place to walk. This brings back memories of when I was a visitor to Golden and I walked that very same trail thinking about all of the lucky folks who live in Golden. I never imagined that, one day, I would be so lucky, too!
While everyone enjoys the breathtaking views from Golden, the foothills and the mesas which seem to hug and protect our town, there are the people of Golden who make the town what it is today. The community of Golden is filled with folks as passionate about their town as I am. Most everyone knows one another and, if you don't, it won't be long before you do. Merchants are friendly, knowledgeable, and offer old-fashioned customer service. Try getting that at the mall!
Golden has wonderful events throughout the year. Whether you come to celebrate an Olde Golden Christmas or stroll through the Golden Fine Arts Festival, you are guaranteed to have a great time in Golden. Folks count the days to the opening of the Golden Farmers Market which is held on Saturdays during the summer/early fall and located in the parking lot next to the library and along Clear Creek. How is that for a fun gathering place with friends and neighbors?
I could go on and on about MY town, Golden, Colorado, however, I would like to invite you to visit Golden and see for yourself just how wonderful it is. You never know what Golden Opportunity you may find!

We will be retiring in Golden this year to be by our son and daughter-in-law and have a couple of questions about Golden, if you don't mind.
Where did you move from as empty nesters? We empty nested 10 years ago but are healthly, active seniors looking for clean air, less traffic and less crime. And, more family!!
Were your expectations of Golden realistic? What are the pros and cons of Golden for you?
Thank you...hope we can meet when we get there!!
