Community Almanac

In March 2007, the United States Air Force 40th Airlift Squadron, "The Screaming Eagles", of Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas adotpted the City of Herculaneum as their honorary home town.  The squadron was presented with flags from the City of Herculaneum and the Herculaneum Fire Department in recognition of this "adoption".  The squadron presented the city and fire department with official squadron flags and other items from the squadron.  The Herculaneum Fire Department also presented the squadron with numerous items from the fire department.  The squadron presented a flyover for the Herculaneum High School on September 27, 2007, and a flyover during the Bicentennial Celebration on October 12, 2008.
