These are two maps of the Hillsboro area of Starksboro (there is another story in this almanac featuring a video about the former settlement). The maps were created using aerial ortho photographs and put together by Middlebury College students during fall 2008. They show the evolution of land use in the area over the past 70 years (from 1942 to 2008). You can use them as a reference to point to specific sites and explore the change that has occurred there.
This area is now home to the town forest, and anyone can visit it and discover artifacts from previous settlement.
The maps here are in jpeg (photo) format, so you can't zoom in, but if you want to look at them more closely and in their full-sized pdf form, you can find them at the Starksboro Website hosted by the Orton Family Foundation:
http://www.orton.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=page.viewpage&pageid=724
You may need Adobe Acrobat to view them there. When you zoom into the pdf images, you will see that there are specific sites and settlements labeled for you to explore.
