The heart of our community, which has given rise to our soul, is Water. Riviere LaChute runs through the center of our town and we're cushioned by two lakes--George and Champlain--the locations of which gave rise to our Indian name. It is here that in 1609 Samuel de Champlain recorded first touching the soil of New York, the first European to do so.
