Twin Bridges Bike Camp
-
The Ruby Valley is popular summer thoroughfare for touring bicyclists. It is part of Section 4 of the Adventure Cycling TransAmerica Trail, which runs from Missoula to West Yellowstone. The charm and friendliness of our communities has enticed many cyclists to extend their stay and enjoy the local activities.
With the plethora of scenic fire trails and backroads, the Ruby Valley is also becoming an attraction for mountain bikers. Please see our interactive map for some of the backroads into the Tobacco Root and Highland Mountains and the Ruby Range. There are also great rides to be taken into the Gravelly Range to the east of the Valley. You can contact the Sheridan Forest Service office for an excellent map at (406) 842-5432.
Twin Bridges built a unique camping facility specifically to meet the needs of cyclists traveling through the Ruby Valley. Many cyclists enjoyed camping at the Twin Bridges Bike Camp during the inaugural 2009 season. The camp is located next to the Beaverhead River in a lovely grassy park located one block from town. The facility has showers, an indoor eating area, outdoor sinks and storage. Nearby amenities include swimming, fishing, laundry, groceries, wifi at the library, and much more. For more information and photos of the facility, please visit www.cyclecamp-twinbridges.com. Because Montana is such a big state with a small population (a little over 900,000 projected for 2008), it's very popular with cyclists. We have wide open roads and fabulous scenery. Please check out Bicycling the Big Sky map for route information and road conditions.
